Biography:
With a passion for advancing technical capabilities in the Events Industry, I am a dedicated Events Industry Technical Engineer on a mission to secure contracts with reputable clients. My goal is to expand my knowledge and skills, contributing to the continuous progression of technology within my field.
Professional Journey:
Currently self-employed at Rob Handyside Engineering & Hedera-IP since December 2017, I focus on designing, developing, programming, and deploying IP-based audio transport systems and embedded audio solutions. My work extends to creating purposeful digital tools for the events industry, offering services such as sound engineering, system engineering, system integration, installation, artist technical management, and technical project management.
As Chief Sound Engineer at Blitz GES from January 2018 to August 2020, I played a pivotal role in supporting the sound, theatre, and video teams. Responsibilities included specifying and deploying the company's sound offering, providing training, maintaining sound equipment standards, and actively engaging in continuous improvement. . Notable achievements include being awarded Tech of the Year in 2018 and 2019 and receiving a WOW Award from GES EMEA in 2019.
My entrepreneurial spirit led me to establish Ivy Productions in April 2007, evolving from a small speaker hire service to a provider of full production and installation services. This venture involved catering to a diverse range of clients, from festivals and corporate events to independent theatre productions. I expanded into custom embedded systems, bespoke LED pixel mapping solutions, and IP-based audio transport concepts.
Over the years, I have lent my expertise to various companies, including Gearhouse/PRG Dubai, John Henrys Ltd, Positive Fokus, DW Sound, SSE London, Hire Frequencies, Studio 338, and Project Audio, holding roles such as System Engineer, Sound Engineer, Head Technician, and Technical Manager.
My tenure at Britannia Row Productions Ltd, from 2005 to 2015, showcased my leadership skills as the Head of the Department for Amplifiers, System Network Configuration, Integration, and Digital Processing. I took part in advanced training from industry leaders and ensured the department's efficiency through clear communication and extensive on-site training.
Starting as a Technical Assistant at Britannia Row Productions Ltd in 2005, I handled maintenance, speaker repair, rigging safety inspections, and job prep and de-prep.
Skills and Approach:
My key skills include being a 'people person' with a positive, can-do attitude, exceptional problem-solving abilities, and the ability to plan and manage highly technical projects. I am inherently safety-focused and possess great support planning skills.
Outside of work, I value family time and enjoy walks in the countryside or by the sea. I am deeply interested in developing purposeful tools and solutions for the Events Industry, reflecting my perpetual thirst for knowledge and commitment to technical progression.
